New UK Cabinet Is Diverse in Makeup and Solidly on the Right
Liz Truss’s new cabinet is the most diverse in the UK, with women who serve as prime ministers and deputy prime ministers and black and South Asian politicians who fill the top work
While they came from different backgrounds, new ministers shared small economic views, free markets, and loyal support to get out of Britain from the European Union.
The diversity of the government reflects years of work by the correct conservative party to shake the image of “pale, male and stale”. Former Prime Minister David Cameron, who is a party leader between 2005 and 2016, made the encouragement to compile a short list of diverse candidates for the chair that could be won.
This drive has changed the level of a party whose national membership with 172,000 remains white and most men. Among the Tory legislator, 24% are women and 6% are owned by ethnic minorities. The Main Opposition Labor Party is more diverse-and gets more support from non-white-white voters-but does not have a leader who is not white. Truss is the third female conservative prime minister.
The Bale team, a political professor at the Queen Mary University of London, noted that British politics had become more diverse in class and gender, but narrower in class matters. More than 90% of British go to public schools, but most Truss cabinets are educated privately.
We have seen the loss of people who are almost total from the working class background,” Bale told the BBC.British first black treasury head was an old friend and allies of the truss. One decade ago they were fellow political writers of political treatises “Britannia Unchained,” which is famous including the claim that British workers are “one of the worst lazy in the world.”
Born in London from Ghana’s parents, Kwarteng was educated at Eton College – an elite private school attended by many prime ministers including Boris Johnson – and Cambridge University. Hold the title of Ph.D. In economic history, Kwarteng is considered as one of the party’s heavy class.
He will be very important for the government’s response to the cost of living costs triggered by the soaring energy prices. Truss has promised assistance for families and businesses that struggle to pay their bills, but both he and Kwarteng support tax deductions rather than direct gift.
Cleverly, the son of a British white father and Mrs. Sierra Leone, was a former soldier in the British military reserves who were elected as members of parliament in 2015.
Widely seen as pragmatic and friendly, he has held the position of foreign office as Minister of Europe and the Middle East and is the secretary of education in the last weeks of Johnson government. Now he has been promoted to become a foreign secretary, the first black politician to serve as the top diplomat of England.
The new British Minister of the Interior of the British, responsible for immigration and law and order, is a strong Cambridge education lawyer next to the rights of the conservative party. Secretary of the youngest home at the age of 42 years, Braverman was born in London from Indian parents who moved to England from Kenya and Mauritius.
He supported the controversial plan of his predecessor Priti Patel to send several asylum seekers who arrived in England on a one -way journey to Rwanda. He also called for more immigration detention centers to withstand migrants across the British channel with small boats.
Braverman, who served as Attorney General under Johnson, accused the court of interference in politics and said Britain must leave the European Convention on human rights. Like some other new government members, he has adopted the “anti-woke” position that divided the cultural issues and has compared diversity training for civil servants with medieval witch trials.
