Narnia Movies in Order

Chronicles of Narnia a seven series of novels written by C.S.Lewis was adapted into a movie format with the same title of the first novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The film was released in 2005 and because of popular demand, the next two series of the book went on to become a hit. Fortunately the release date and chronological events in the book series are of the same order and hence the fans of the Narnia Series have been able to enjoy the story line and the fantasy elements in the movie true to their imagination while reading the narnia novels. The Chronicles of Narnia film series turned out to be a huge hit and popular among movie buffs especially children, purely for its technical excellence, cgi imagery and visual effects. The  Narnia Movies in chronological order are as under.

1. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The first movie was released in the year 2005 and is based on the 1950 novel with the same title. The story of the movies is about the four siblings named Lucy, Peter, Edmund and Susan, who have been sent to a country house for safety sake and to be away from the World War II bombings in London. One fine morning Lucy happens to find a wardrobe and on opening it finds herself in a fantasy and mystical land known as Narnia. She soon takes her siblings along with her to the fantasy land. In fantasy land, they get to meet the magical and talking lion character and witch elements. The computer generated imagery and visual effects was really a turn on for the audience especially children who enjoyed watching the movie. The feedback and response received from the movie was a motivating factor for the filmmakers to go for the remake of Narnia second novel.

2. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The Second Movie was released in 2008 and is based on 1951 novel of the same title.  After having all the fund and adventure in the mystic land of Narnia, the siblings return to their real world only to find that time zones are completely different from that of Narnia. The time period in the fantasy world of Narnia moved fast, completing 1300 years during their absence for nearly one year in their real world. The siblings return to fantasy land and join hands with Prince Caspian to fight and overthrow and wicked King Miraz who is on the verge of destroying the beautiful and mystic land of Narnia.

3. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Third Movie was released in the year 2010 and is based on the 1952 novel of the same title. In this movie, Lucy and her brother Edmund find an old classic painting of a wrecked ship named Dawn Treader. True to the viewer’s imagination, the painting comes alive and the two siblings once again find themselves in the mystic land of Narnia. Here they happen to meet their old friend Prince Caspian who is now the King of Narnia. King Narnia is on his way to find the lost lords and their swords which can only stop the evil green mist that is engulfing the land of Narnia and capturing the bodies and minds of its inhabitants. Lucy and Edmund join King Caspian in his quest to find the lost swords.

The Fourth in the Chronicles of Narnia, The Silver Chair also being planned to be adapted into a movie version and is in the pre-production stage. There are a total of 7 novels in  the series of Chronicles of Narnia with each one  unique in its story content, adventurous and equally exciting as its prequels.  The seven novels are enlisted here for your information.
