Imran Khan to face probe in ‘gifted necklace’ case: Report
The Federal Investigation Agency has opened an investigation into former Prime Minister Imran Khan on charges that he gave a necklace to Zulfikar Bukhari who had sold it to a jewelry in Lahore with ₹ 180 million (PKR). The necklace in the first place was talented to the former Prime Minister and should be stored in Toshakhana, Pakistan’s The Express Tribune reported. Zulfikar Bukhari is Imran Khan’s special assistant. In return for the necklace, Imran Khan save several hundred thousand rupees, not half of the price of ownership, as stipulated by the Pakistani law.
The law said public gifts can be stored by state officials by paying half of the price. If they don’t send a gift or deposit half the price, then the action becomes illegal.
His party has not commented on new accusations because they have swung to preparation for elections. In his first public address on Wednesday in Peshawar since his ouster through voting without confidence in the Assembly, Imran Khan questioned the justice why he opened his door at midnight to facilitate the non-believer movement, according to him, carried out on foreign orders. “I asked the judiciary that when you open a court in the middle of the night … this nation had known me for 45 years. Have I ever violated the law? When I play cricket, does anyone ever accused me of fixing the match?” He said.
The day after his ouster, a petition was filed to search for a case of betrayal of Imran Khan and other ministers from his government, which was dismissed by the court.
