UK becomes first nation to approve Omicron vaccine
Britain has become the first country to pass the Covid-19 vaccine targeting the Omicron variant. UK Medicine Regulator (MHRA) approved the ‘Bivalent’ vaccine created by Moderna as a driver for adults, Reuters reported.
The agency’s decision is based on clinical test data showing the booster triggers a “strong immune response” to Omicron (BA.1) and the original 2020 virus, he said.
The British medical regulator also quoted an exploration analysis where the shot was also found to produce a good immune response to the sub-variant of Omicron which is currently dominant BA.
4 and BA.5.Clinical test data shows the booster triggered a “strong immune response” to the Omicron variant.
